“The world in Berlin” photographs live @Kaffeemitte and you can become our model!
On August 27 and September 3, the photographers of the project “The world in Berlin” will setup a live photo-shooting at Kaffeemitte in Berlin. People living in Berlin and coming from a different country are welcome to join the photo shoot.
Are you currently living in Berlin but were born in a different country?
The project “The World in Berlin” displays photographs of people currently living in Berlin but were born in another country thus portraying the cultural differences of Berlins’s residents, giving the city it’s typical flair.
On August 27 and September 3, the photographers of the project will shoot live at Kaffeemitte (Weinmeisterstr. 9a, 10178 Berlin) from 4 to 6pm – and you can become part of it!
Who can participate?
You currently live in Berlin …
… but you were born in a different country
You must be either over 18 or have the permission of your parents to participate
How to participate:
1) Join us on either on August 27 or September 3 between 4 and 6pm at Kaffeemitte in Berlin.
2) Bring your passport with you so that we can validate the city of birth.
3) One of the photographers of the project “The World in Berlin“ will portray you in/ in front of/ around the Kaffeemitte. The photo shoot is for free.
4) You will be asked a few questions (for example how you came to Berlin or what you like/hate about the city etc.). A short quote – derived from the answers to the question – (together with the photo) will be published later on the project website. You can find examples here: www.the-world-in-berlin.de
5) You will have to sign a model release (https://www.the-world-in-berlin.de/downloads).
The photo shoot and the answering of the questions will take around 30 minutes.
The countries:
There are 195 nations worldwide recognized by the United Nations. Many (all?) of them are represented in Berlin, which is one of the most international cities in Europe. You can find a list of the countries of the world and how many we have covered on our website (www.the-world-in-berlin.de/countries. We still have a long way to go!
We kindly ask you to refer to the list on our website for countries that we are still looking for. If countries are marked in yellow or red, it means, that we have already found enough candidates. If countries are marked with “0”, we are still looking for representatives.
We expect the project to become more difficult when we try to close the gaps with countries with smaller populations. Representatives of smaller countries are often particularly difficult to find. Help to find representatives of these countries would be greatly appreciated. Kindly note: The place of birth counts, not the nationality.
Where will the photo be published?
We plan to use the pictures for exhibitions, on our website, social media and maybe even for a book project. In addition to the photo, we would like to publish first name, place of birth, country of origin and some answers to the interview questions.
